BARRISTER
Zeeshan is a Barrister at 2KBW Chambers. He specialises in all aspects of Immigration and Human Rights Law, including in the Public law and European Law sphere.
Zeeshan was called to the bar in 2012, and has been a full member of chambers since January 2017. Since then, he has developed a busy practice, encompassing all matters within the jurisdiction. Zeeshan regularly appears in both the FtT and UT, as well as in Judicial Review matters in the UT and in the RCJ. Zeeshan has always found a way to address complex areas of law, whilst maintaining a clear and persuasive style of advocacy.
Zeeshan has developed a superb understanding of the law, and also recognises the importance of client care, both in terms of pre-appeal preparation and during any hearing. It is this combination of service which is imperative in obtaining favourable outcomes for clients.
Zeeshan has worked on, and continues to work on a number of high profile cases, which address current important legal principles. These include matters relating to in particular. ETS, English Language test challenges. As many of you may now, this has been a notoriously challenging saga for Applicants since 2014, with constantly evolving case law. The current challenge Zeeshan is involved in goes to the heart of the reliability of the Home Office’s generic evidence, based in large part on the publication of the APPG (All Part Parliamentary Group) Report on TOEIC in 2019. The case has the potential of having far reaching implications upon Applicant’s involved in the ETS saga.
Zeeshan has a particular focus on all Human Rights matters, including Article 8, in relation to both removal and deportation. Zeeshan has a matter currently awaiting permission to the Court of Appeal on S.117C(5) which goes to the core of interpreting the unduly harsh test.
These are just a few examples of current cases of wider importance being pursued.
Zeeshan recognises the importance of having a measured and personal approach in conducting any matter with lay clients, essentially stemming from the significant individual importance each case has upon a person. This recognition is illustrated in his approach to any of his clients, as well as his fearless approach in pursuing matters on behalf of those clients in Courts and Tribunals.
In recognition of Zeeshan’s continued excellence he was nominated for the Asian Legal Awards as a finalist for the Rising Star Award 2019.
